Foccus: Satellite observation at the Service of the Coastal Sector
The Brief
Powered by satellite and terrestrial data provided by Copernicus, FOCCUS is a Horizon Europe project focusing on enhancing the coastal extension of the pan-European CMEMS system to better serve coastal users and member states. This project ensures the monitoring and protection of coastal areas across Europe.
The role of Saper Vedere? To design a website for the project that aligns with its visual identity and communicates quite technical and complex messages clearly and attractively. For our team, facilitating the understanding of stakeholders seeking information on marine science and research was essential.
Proposed solution
In charge of the project, our Design & Creation division carried out the work in two parts: creating the mockups on Figma and developing the back-end and front-end of the final site.
The most important challenge of the site is to make its content quickly understandable through a strong visual identity that evokes both the marine universe and satellite observation. Designed like a funnel, the homepage aims to draw a parallel between the scrolling experience and flying over a coastal area.
Result and impact
The visual identity of the FOCCUS site immerses the user in coastal zones by playing with images of the coast, curves, and organic shapes that suggest the undulations of the sea. The finesse, minimalism, and fluidity of the whole immerse users in the heart of the subject.
The site is also a unique source of information for stakeholders, highlighting the project’s objectives and fundamental pillars.
